- Why do candles tunnel? The first burn is the most important. Wax has memory, so you want to be sure the first time you burn your candle it melts all the way to the edge of the jar. That way in subsequent burns it will melt to the edges each time.
- Why is my candle sweating? There could be a couple of reasons for this. Temperature changes: Soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes, and when the temperature shifts, the wax can expand and contract, causing the natural oils to separate and appear on the surface of the candle. Humidity: High humidity levels can increase the likelihood of sweating. Sweating is a minor issue that doesn’t affect the candle’s quality or performance. To prevent sweating, you can try: Keeping the candle away from drafts and direct sunlight and be sure to store the candle in a cool, dry place.
- Does sweating affect the candle? Sweating is a minor issue that doesn’t affect the candle’s quality or performance. Before lighting the candle, you can wipe off any excess oil with a tissue or paper towel.
- Why does the candle have white on top? The white coating on top of a soy wax candle is called frosting or blooming and it’s a natural characteristic of soy wax. It’s caused by the growth of tiny crystals on the surface of the wax as it cools. It’s normal: All natural soy waxes will frost over time.
- Does frosting or blooming affect my candle? No, it’s cosmetic. Frosting doesn’t affect the way the candle burns or smells.
- Why does the jar look like it has wet spots? Wet spots in a soy wax candle jar are caused by the wax pulling away from the glass as it cools and solidifies, creating air bubbles and an uneven finish. While wet spots can be unsightly, they don’t affect the candle’s performance. All candles are measured by weight. The wet spots do not dictate how much wax is inside the jar.
